Volunteer Opportunities

The North Central Texas Area Agency on Aging is always in need of caring volunteers.

Volunteers are needed for the following positions.

  • Companions
Volunteers help expand individuals’ social ties by providing services such as telephone reassurance, friendly visiting, respite, shopping assistance, transportation, light household chores or repairs.
  • Fraud and abuse educators
The Senior Medicare Patrol program helps Medicare beneficiaries prevent, detect and report health care fraud. The program relies on volunteers to help educate consumers on ways they can protect themselves and their medical information.
  • Nutrition helpers
Volunteers deliver meals to individuals’ homes or assist at group meal sites. This effort helps individuals access food that can contribute to an active, healthy life and increases the socialization of individuals who have minimal interaction with the community.
  • Ramps/accessibility support teams
Volunteers work in teams to build wheelchair ramps at the homes of individuals who are unable to safely leave and re-enter their homes. Help older adults and people with disabilities age in place and increase their social interaction with their communities.

The North Central Texas Area Agency on Aging receives funding from RSVP to recruit volunteers for specific programs. RSVP is part of Senior Corps, a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service, the federal agency for volunteering, service, and civic engagement. CNCS engages millions of Americans in citizen service through its AmeriCorps and Senior Corps programs and leads the nation’s volunteer and service efforts.
